What "natural" means here

  • Grapes grown organically, at least
  • Native yeasts, nothing added to the juice
  • Little or no sulphites, and we say how much

There is no official label for "natural wine" in France except the "Vin méthode nature" charter, which some growers follow. We tell you, bottle by bottle, what we know.

Bring the dish, we find the bottle

Oysters and shellfish

A dry, saline white: Chablis, Muscadet

Roast chicken

A supple red from the Loire or the Beaujolais

Blue cheese, foie gras

A sweet white: Jurançon, Sauternes, Coteaux du Layon

Chocolate dessert

A sweet red from Roussillon: Maury, Banyuls

Our counter, our rules

1

Tasted before it is on the shelf

Every bottle on sale has been opened and tasted here first. If we cannot say what is in it, we do not sell it.

2

Advice at every price

A bottle for a Tuesday dinner deserves as much attention as one for a wedding. Give us a budget, we keep to it.

3

Set aside on request

Ask by phone or with the form: we put the bottles aside, you pay and collect them at the shop.

4

Gift-wrapped on the spot

Paper, ribbon or wooden case: tell us it is a gift and it leaves the shop ready to give.

Keep a bottle aside

1

Tell us what you are after

A bottle you saw on the site, or just the dish, the number of guests and a budget.

2

We call you back

To confirm the wines, suggest an alternative if a vintage has run out, and agree on the day.

3

The bottles wait for you

Set aside with your name on the case, at cellar temperature, until the day agreed.

4

Pay and collect at the shop

No payment online: you pay at the counter, and leave with the bottles wrapped if they are a gift.

Heard at the counter

"I said: lamb, six people, about fifteen euros a bottle. Two suggestions, both right, and the reason why for each."
Catherine · Sunday lunch
"Thirty bottles for our wedding, set aside a month ahead, collected the day before. Nothing to think about."
Julien and Mélissa · Wedding
"The Friday tastings taught me more about the Loire than ten years of buying at the supermarket."
Patrick · Regular at the tastings
